With one hand on the railing and two bags on my shoulder, I cross the gangway to board the Eendracht. Skipper Maurits is there to give a helping hand. The gangway leads me to a deep, charming cockpit, where Maurits introduces himself and welcomes me in the comfortable saloon.
Where in the olden days bricks, dung and potatoes were stored in all corners of the hold, I now enter a charming and open living area. Colourful cushions, shining woodwork and a traditional wood-burning stove give this saloon a cosy, warm and pleasant atmosphere. Outfitted with a big stove, large refrigerator and plenty stowage, this kitchen will definitely provide us some delicious meals. Simply fully equipped.

The Eendracht is provided with 16 beds, divided into six two-berth cabins and one four-berth cabin. Apart from a well-equipped galley, there are two toilets and one spacious shower on board.

In January 2013 I bought this amazing tjalk that I've been living and working on ever since. A dream that still lives on. During the sailing season I make the most beautiful trips together with my guests to find unique places and during the winter season I prepare the ship for the next sailing season.
Century-old Zuyder Zee dikes meander, creating capes and bays. To the west the curving sea dike bears witness to an age-long struggle with varying succes, against water from the sea. Whereas to the east the dikes form straight, businesslike lines. In the evening, when the sun goes down, the dike casts its shadow over our ship as the colours of the sky above slowely die out. But in the early morning at the break of day, when the sun's first rays appear, we are there to catch this early light.
The first smell of salty water surrounds us. Though the winds have abandoned us and sailing is bearly an option, we've got main sail and spinacker hoisted. Slowly drifting onwards, grateful for the tide that is pushing us in the right direction. As the last bit of wind, tired of his job, leaves our sails, we surf the Eendracht onto the sands. She heaves a last sigh of relief and gives in to peace and tranquility.
Meandering through a flat landscape, the ship makes her way. In her wake a beautiful authentic scenery. Grazing cows gaze on in amazement. In the distance a sheep bleats. The farmers on their land sullenly nod as we sail along and our surge makes their dinghy at the landing sway. Even in these small canals we've set all sails.
